ABOUT G.I.R.L. WEBSITE : This website is for anyone & everyone who would like to "surf" it. We understand that most people who visit this website will not be able to become G.I.R.L. Members or attend Club meetings if you are not from this area. Even though you may not be able to experience the actual club, please be encouraged to "surf" our website anyway. In the future we will be adding many more pages with Scriptures, Bible Studies, & Devotions that we hope all can enjoy & learn from!
WHAT IS G.I.R.L. CLUB? : G.I.R.L. stands for Guiding & Inspiring Righteous Ladies. It is a girls only group for ages 12 to 18. This group incorporates lessons on life with God’s word from the bible and fun activities. The purpose is to help teenage girls deal with the everyday problems and pressures of growing up while upholding Christ centered values. Some topics of discussion will include (but not be limited to) peer pressure, abstinence, alcohol and drugs, school, shoplifting, self esteem, body image, and stress. There will be monthly meetings and activities not unlike a club.
WHAT DO YOU DO AT G.I.R.L. MEETINGS? : At monthly meetings we will sing, have bible studies, and have discussions and “rap” sessions. We will also include your hobbies and talents like singing and music, theater and dance, arts and crafts, sports and recreation, and fashion. Every meeting will have a different activity or theme. Some G.I.R.L. activities could include watching movies, going shopping, playing indoor games, sleepovers, or having a night of make-overs! Some themes could be a masquerade costume party, a Hawaiian backyard barbeque, a Christmas party, and even a Mother-Daughter tea party in the spring.
WHAT IS PRINCESS OF THE MONTH?: Every month we draw a name from the girls that attend club meetings. This girl is the Princess of the Month. She will be our prayer focus until our next G.I.R.L. Club Meeting. G.I.R.L. Club members are encouraged to do something special for the Princess . You can send her an encouraging card, letter, or email, you can buy her a small gift, you can invite her over to eat or spend the night, you can take her out to dinner, the movies, or for ice cream. The goal is to make the Princess feel special and for everyone to make an effort to get to know her better. The following month the Princess will draw a name and crown the new princess.
CAN ANYONE ATTEND A G.I.R.L.MEETING?: Any girl between the ages of 12 and 18 (or in grades 7-12) can attend a meeting. You do not have to be a member to attend a meeting. You can be from any school or church. You can invite all of your friends, family, or neighbors that meet the age requirements. And remember girls only!
WHEN DOES G.I.R.L. MEET? : G.I.R.L. will meet the first Thursday or Friday of every month from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Please check the calendar of meetings & events for exact dates & details.
DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO JOIN G.I.R.L.? : We do ask for monthly dues which are $2.00 a month. These dues are appreciated, but not required. We will not turn any girl away! This money is used for refreshments, activities, and supplies. Additional donations will always be welcomed. (Dues are only for the local girls that attend meetings).
*Please keep in mind that G.I.R.L. is a non-profit organization and was founded with absolutely no seed money, only a seed of faith.
HOW DO I JOIN G.I.R.L.? : To become a member of G.I.R.L. all you need to do is fill out the Membership: Join G.I.R.L. Club form. Please be sure to give a valid email address or mailing address, without these we can not contact you! We will then send you information and a Membership Form to complete. Please be sure to fill out the form completely. We do require a parent’s or guardian’s signature. Once completed, you can mail the form back to us, or bring it with you to our next club meeting. When you send in your form you will then be an official member of G.I.R.L. and begin to receive invitations to the meetings.
CAN I HELP OUT WITH G.I.R.L.? : G.I.R.L. currently has a committee of 6 of its members. The committee will help with theme and activity ideas, membership, notifying members about meetings and activities, fundraiser ideas and other things. Staff on the G.I.R.L. committee will be expected to attend committee meetings in addition to the monthly G.I.R.L. meetings. The committee meetings will be held as needed. We encourage you to be part of the committee. This is your club and we want your thoughts and ideas to keep it running! If you are interested in being on the G.I.R.L. committee, just check the box on the membership form. You will get a letter or be contacted by phone about the next committee meeting.
